There are a lot of gyms in Columbia, MO.
Some are newer. Some are bigger. Some have shinier equipment and more parking and a smoothie bar near the front door.
We have none of those things to sell you.
What we have is a gym that has been showing up for this city since 2009. Coaching real people through real life — job changes, injuries, pregnancies, losses, comebacks, and everything in between. Learning what actually works and being honest enough to say what doesn't.
If you're looking for the gym that's been in the trenches with Columbia the longest — the one that knows this community because it's been part of it since before most of its competitors existed — that's us.
Here's what that actually means.
We didn't walk in on day one knowing how to run a great gym. Nobody does.
What we know now — after thousands of members and more humbling moments than we can count — is that there is no magic formula for programming. No perfect workout sequence. No secret method that produces results for everyone.
What actually works is simpler and harder than that.
Listen to your members. Meet them where they are. Make intelligent, empathetic decisions that serve their growth — even when those decisions cost you something as a business.
That's not a philosophy we read in a book. It's one we earned the hard way. And it's the lens through which every coaching decision, every program adjustment, and every conversation at CrossFit Fringe gets made.
Early on, like a lot of coaches, we measured success in short windows. Three months. Six months. A year.
We don't think that way anymore.
The members who've changed their lives here didn't do it in a year. They did it in ten. Michelle came in 2015 and this year celebrated eleven years with us — and more than a hundred pounds lost. Jason came in as a runner, curious about getting stronger, and became one of the highest check-in members in our history. More than thirty of our members have crossed a thousand workouts.
Those outcomes don't happen at a gym you tolerate. They happen at a gym you belong to.
We're no longer here to help people get fit for one, two, or three years. We're here to help Columbia get and stay healthy for ten, twenty, and thirty years. That changes how we coach. It changes how we program. It changes every single decision we make.
We've created scholarship memberships for members who fell on hard times. We didn't announce it. We just did it because it was right.
We've organized fundraisers for members fighting cancer. We've shown up for this community in ways that had nothing to do with growing our business and everything to do with being a real part of it.
From ‘Rally for Rhyan’ in 2013 to standing beside Jason in 2026, we've always believed that a gym is only as good as what it does when things get hard.
That's not marketing. That's receipts going back to 2009.
We're not renting space and hoping for the best. We have a permanent home where we reinvest directly into our community.
We own the building CrossFit Fringe operates out of. Not because we've made it — but because we're not going anywhere. Everything we've built since 2009 isn't anywhere near enough to accomplish what we want for this city.
We want to help Columbia for generations to come. That's not a tagline. It's the reason we're still here, still coaching, and still investing in this community when others have come and gone.
We've been doing this longer than almost anyone in the world (we’re one of the longest tenured CrossFit gyms not just the US, but in the world).
We know how to meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to go.
We don't sell fluff. We give you the honest answer — the one that requires real work and real commitment. Because that's the only answer that actually leads somewhere worth going.
There are plenty of options in Columbia. We respect that. But if you want a gym that has been tested by time, built on real relationships, and is here for the long haul — come find out what a gym built since 2009 looks like in person.
